Dan Gutierrez has been kind enough to share his gear planner with us. It is
very user-friendly and allows the user to see how changes tovarious
chainring/cog sizes, wheel sizes, cadence changes will impact shifting and speed
ranges. The note below is from Dan.
Here is the latest incarnation of my
gear planning spreadsheet.
It is a Microsoft EXCEL 5.0 for Windows spreadsheet for the
IBMPC. It includes cell protection and a slightly nicer looking interface than
the earlier version. Please note that only the places (cells) where you enter
your cog and chainring sizes, your minimum and maximum cadences and your wheel
size are variable in the Visual Gear Planner sheet. The rest of the cells in
this sheet, including the graph, are locked. The second sheet, the Visual Gear
Printer is a completely locked copy of the Visual Gear Planner that is intended
for black and white printing only. You can just print the Visual Gear Planner
sheet directly if you are fortunate enough to have a color printer.
I hope
all of you find this sheet as useful as I have...
