AEA Cycling Club — Bike Lockers

The Aerospace Corporation owns several sets of bicycle lockers positioned at various buildings at the El Segundo facility. Commuter Services has jurisdiction on the use of those lockers. Since 1995, they have instituted a stewardship policy under which designated members of the AEA Cycling Club administer the periodic maintenance, rider usage verification, and key (re-)distribution of lockers under their stewardship.

The following items detail the Locker Proctor System (LPS) procedures, including the responsibilities of The Aerospace Corporation's Commuter Services (TACCS), the AEA Cycling and Bikecommuter Club (AEACBC), and the individual bikecommuters using the lockers.

  1. To be eligible for locker assignment, bikecommuters must be members of the AEACBC. No key deposit is required. However, those with assigned lockers are required to verify usage by completing a commuter survey card at the beginning of each month and return them to their locker proctor, in order to continue with (re-)assignment.
  2. Lockers will be assigned monthly by the proctors on the fifteenth of each month to the fourteenth of the following month.
  3. Commuting frequency will determine locker assignment priority. Lockers will be assigned to those individuals who bikecommute the most days during the previous month as determined from their survey cards. The proctors will be exempt from the monthly assessment as an incentive to perform their duties.
  4. Copies of data used by each proctor to determine monthly locker reassignments will be sent to TACCS for approval prior to the actual locker reassignment. This should give the proctors and TACCS ample time to resolve any conflicts or problems that may arise.
  5. A certain number of day use lockers, to be determined TACCS, will be set aside and the keys distributed by the lobby receptionists as per the current day use program.
  6. The AEACBC, via the proctors, will maintain the lockers and ensure that any hardware problems that arise are resolved.
  7. TACCS, which already has a key repository, will be responsible for master keys and key replacement, via Aerospace Lock and Key. Bikeommuters who lose keys will be responsible for reimbursing TACCS for key replacement or lose their locker privileges until payment is made. Flagrant offenders will lose locker privileges permanently.
  8. TACCS, as the official representatives of The Aerospace Corporation, owner of the lockers, has final jurisdiction in all matters concerning the lockers.

The above items are subject to the approval of TACCS and can be renegotiated with the officers and proctors of the AEACBC at any time. We, the executive officers of the AEACBC, appreciate your willingness to work with the bikecommuters and wish with this LPS proposal to foster a healthy spirit of cooperation, now and in the future.
