- Unscheduled topics:
- Membership Dues:
We've had an excellent response to our calls for membership dues.
Your dues are highly leveraged,
because our membership numbers enable us to get funding
from the Aerospace Employees Association.
Keep up the good work.
Any of last years members who we don't hear from will be hearing from us!
- Club Bikes:
Jeffrey Childs reports that the two new club bikes are in good shape.
Remember that they are available to all members for one week at a time.
We still want to sell our old bikes.
The sale will occur by auction, with proceeds going to charity.
- Web Site:
Our website will be moving to the Aerospace Employees Association domain
(http://www.aeaclubs.org/cycling).
- California Bike Commute Week:
Bike week is May 14-18.
On Tuesday we will be sponsoring the Non-polluting Commuting Challenge
where bike riders and car drivers are pitted against each other.
Wednesday will be our customary bike fair.
Friday will be Bike-to-work-day.
We'll host breakfast and hand out souvenirs
to all Aerospace and Air Force bike commuters.
Aerospace and the Air Force will be competing
to see who can supply the most bike commuters.
Several commitments were made for bike week.
Peggy Tsunoda will send out letters to invite vendors to the bike fair.
Mark Polak volunteered to arrange for an Orbiter article.
Jean Ghianouly will coordinate with the Air Force.
- Seat count:
Brent Morgan mentioned the need for an accurate count
of all bike commuters on bike-to-work days.
- Recreational Rides:
We are still looking for a ride coordinator.
Dick Dickinson suggested a weekly lunchtime ride.
If anyone in the club would like to organize a ride (road or mountain)
email Grace and Mark,
and we'll publicize it using the club email list.
- New Meeting Format:
We will be switching to a new meeting format, hopefully starting in April.
Each month there will be two meetings:
a board meeting in the cafeteria (open to all members), and a general meeting.
The board meeting will cover the business of the bike club,
and is where decisions will be made.
The general meeting will consist of a brief summary of club business
followed by a speaker.
The speakers will usually be from outside the company,
and we have budgeted for some honoraria.
The speakers will cover recreational, commuting,
and political topics of interest to the Aerospace cycling community.
- Club Picnic:
The club will hold a bike ride and picnic in the fall.
We're considering renting a gazebo in Polliwog Park.
If it's anything like last year,
we'll provide enough food and beverage to compensate you for your dues.
