AEA Cycling Club Meeting Minutes
September 10, 1999
1. Membership: Despite a high level of activity and use of bike club resources over FY ‘99, we failed to collect dues from very many members. This is largely due to negligence on the part of the club officers.
Remember that club membership is required for use of club equipment and bike lockers. This will be enforced this year! It's a bargain at $8 for Aerospace employees, $11 for everyone else. The AEAC looks at our membership numbers when allocating money, so your registration is highly leveraged.
Print out the dues form at:

Mail in the completed form with your dues to Peggy Tsunoda at MS M2 – 351.
2. Elections: Last years club officers were re-elected to a 2nd term by acclamation. The position of ride coordinator is open. Please volunteer.
President - Grace Peng and Mark Polak
Vice-President - Dan Gutierrez
Treasurer - Peggy Tsunoda
Ride coordinator - YOU??
3. Expansion of Marine Avenue Park: The city of Manhattan Beach is considering expanding Marine Avenue Park to the east onto newly purchased TRW land. We want to make sure that this does not block bicycle access from Redondo Avenue into the TRW parking lot. Since the club meeting, Mark Polak has checked with the Manhattan Beach department of parks and found that the present plan is not to block this access. A community meeting to discuss the fate of this land is being held on Saturday October 2.
4. Bike Lockers: We will have a bike locker cleanup at the end of October. We will use this as an opportunity to make sure that all bike lockers are held by dues paying club members. The exact details are forthcoming.
5. Bike & Bagel - Cheryl can no longer be present from 7:00 - 8:30. Mark Polak will continue to bring in bagels and be present until 7:45 - 8:00. Dick Dickinson will take over the late shift and shut everything down.
6. Club Purchases - Possible club purchases were discussed. These included new bicycles including a folding bike, membership cards, trunk racks, and more tools for our collection. Final decisions on purchases will await knowledge of our FY '00 funding (just like at work).
7. Club Rides: We lamented the demise of our club rides, particularly the Starbucks ride. By executive fiat, the next Starbucks ride will take place on October 3. Stand by for details. All members are encouraged to organize rides - we'd like to see a mix of road, mountain and family rides.
