The
Green River Golf Club, established in 1958, has been a 36 hole golf course for
over forty years, but the banks of the scenic Santa Ana River that runs through
the golf course have eroded over the years. As a result, in December 2009, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began construction of the next phase of flood protection improvements along this scenic river. This construction will provide protection to housing and State Route 91 from future floodwater releases from the newly raised Prado Dam - located upstream of the Green River Golf Club property. Thus, the Green River golf Club has temporarily transitioned from 36 to 18 holes - twelve from the old Riverside Course and six from the Orange Course. The rumored plan is to become a 27 hole track after construction is completed in the next year and a half. |
