Meeting May 21: “Aeriel Photography & Video using a Drone”

Please join us Thursday, May 21, Noon -1 p.m. in the A3-2226 multimedia conference room for a presentation on aerial photography and videography using a drone.

Recent advances in commercial quadcopter technology (aka drones) bring a new perspective to the world of photography and videography. With stable 3-axis flight controllers, active gimbals, and lightweight camera payloads, intrepid hobbyists can now experiment in this exciting new realm at relatively low financial risk.

John Coggi has been flying drones for the past year and will share his experiences in hardware, software, flying, and filming. Topics include current drone offerings, gimbals, first-person video, tracking, video post-processing, and when things go wrong.

Meeting January 27: “Photography Class results”

Please join us Tuesday, January 27, Noon -1 p.m. in the A3-2226 multimedia conference room for a presentation Kris’s recent photography class.

Meeting will be held in the A3 multimedia conference room from 12 noon to 1 PM.

Meeting Nov. 2: “Infrared Photography”

Please join us Tuesday, December 2nd, Noon -1 p.m. in the A3-2226 multimedia conference room for a presentation on Infrared Photography. It will cover the basics of IR photography including types of cameras, the selection of filters and some tips/tricks. The talk will be focusing on black and white IR photography, which is most rewarding. Several genres of IR photography including landscape, wildlife, and close-up will be briefly touched. In addition, plans for the new year will be discussed.

Meeting will be held in the A3 multimedia conference room on Tuesday, December 2nd from 12 noon to 1 PM.

Meeting September 25: End-of-the-year meeting

Please join us Thursday, September 25fh, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the A3-2226 multimedia conference room for the FY2014 year end meeting. Agenda will include year end  recaps such as purchases and current inventory. Moving forward we will have elections for FY2015 officers, plans for club events and anticipated purchases once teh FY2015 budget is received.

Ideal for beginning photographer, hobbyist or Pro-Sumer.  Over the last 20 years has trained over Aerospace Engineers to become “really good” photographers.

Meeting Feb18: GoPro video camera

AEA Photo/Video Club meeting: “The go anywhere GoPro video camera”

The next meeting of the photo and video club will be Tuesday, February 18th, in A3-1607B, from 11:30 until 12:30. Pizza will be provided on a first come first serve basis.

Walt Sturrock will present an overview of the GoPro video camera, a palm size HD video camera used by many extreme sports enthusiasts to capture video of all kinds of activities, from sky diving to surfing, mountain biking to scuba diving. Walter will showcase its pros and cons, accessories, and provide a live demo of shooting and editing the video on a Mac .

Photo and video equipment can be borrowed by members so be sure to bring your checkbook to join at the meeting.
